Memory does not behave like photography. It fades, reframes, forgets—and returns.

Echoes of Silence marks a return to landscape as memory. Each work begins with a photograph I made myself: a landscape encountered, chosen, and carried back into the studio. From there, the image is reworked through collage, layers of plant-based acrylic paint, and time.

Printed on ultra-thin 10gsm washi paper and mounted on raw canvas, the photograph becomes increasingly fragile. Folds, tensions, and irregularities remain visible. I leave them in place because they belong to the work, just as every experience becomes part of who we are. Earlier states are not erased. They continue to shape what follows.

The landscapes are not records of specific places. They speak of how places continue to live within us through memory. They reflect my interest in the traces left by experience and in the quiet ways we are transformed over time.

Through photography and mixed media, I seek to honour these traces and the ways they continue to shape our lives.
